January 8, 2022, with internationally renowned, Grammy nominated Sitarist Gaurav Mazumdar. Presented by South Asia Institute with our community partners, Merit School of Music, Fulcrum Point New Music Project, and Mandala South Asian Performing Arts.

Come and immerse yourself in the mood and atmosphere that can only be created through the beauty of raga music.

Gaurav Mazumdar, the long-time student of Ravi Shankar will reveal the roots of the raga – a melodic framework for improvisation and composition that plays a major role in Indian music theory. Whether attendees wish to learn more about the sensibilities of the legendary sitarist Ravi Shankar, basic minor scales translated into raga, or simply get a better understanding of Hindustani classical music, all are welcome to attend.

Musicians are welcome to bring their instruments, but it is not required.
