Satrangi Naach Night: A Queer & Trans Family Affirming Evening of Community Circle Dances

South Asia Institute, Desi Rainbow, and Trikone-Chicago  invite you to join us for 

🌟 A Queer-Inclusive Satrangi Naach Night! 🌟

Get ready for an evening of dance & community at our vibrant and inclusive fall celebration!  Let’s come together to celebrate love, diversity, South Asian cultural heritage, and the intergenerational LGBTQIA2S+ community. 

Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a first-timer, everyone is welcome to join in the fun (lessons will be provided).

🕒 Time: 4-8 p.m. Dance Instruction from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m.; Open Dance floor from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

What is Satrangi Naach Night? 

It is a queer affirming celebration of community circle dances from South Asia, including garba and dandiya raas. 

Who is this for?

Satrangi Naach Night is for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, their parents, family members, and allies! 

This is a safe and queer-affirming space for adults and children of all ages, cultural traditions & backgrounds. 

What to expect: 

  • Dance Instruction: An opportunity to learn the steps of garba with our friendly instructors before the main event.

  • Traditional and Modern Music: There will be a DJ spinning a fun mix of traditional Garba/Raas tunes and modern beats.

  • Community and Connection: An opportunity to meet new friends and learn about community-based South Asian and LGBTQIA+ organizations and artists in Chicago!

How to join us: Register at Eventbrite . Tickets can be purchased for $20 ($15 for seniors and students. Children under 12 join free!)

Dress code: Wear your most vibrant, expressive, and gender-expansive outfits. 

Traditional South Asian attire is welcome & feel free to add your unique flair!
