SCHOOL GROUP FIELD TRIPS

Students are able to engage in inquiry-driven learning centered on modern and contemporary South Asian art in our exhibitions. Led by SAI staff, students will explore the exhibitions featuring contemporary art of various mediums through guided discussions that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation, while discovering connections to their own lives over the course of 1-2 hours. Advanced reservations required.

Charges
$5 per student (flat rate of $100 for less than 20 students)
One free adult for every ten students. Additional guest is $10/person

UNIVERSITY & ADULT GROUP VISITS

Explore the complexity of South Asian art in a tour centered on sharing the rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and contemporary voices. Tours are led by SAI staff members who share the background on the art, artists, cultural histories, and the curatorial process of the exhibitions. Visitors will experience a broad range of media from photography, painting, sculpture, and more, and gain a deeper understanding of how traditions intersect with contemporary social, cultural, and political issues. Advanced reservations required.

HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR FIELD TRIP / GROUP VISIT

More important information:

  • Allow approximately 1-2 hours for your visit, depending upon the size and age of your group.

  • SAI requires one adult for every 10 students 14 years and younger and one adult for every 20 students 15 years and older. These adults receive complimentary admission and are expected to be responsible for students during the visit.

  • No food or drink or backpacks are allowed in the gallery space. We have a coat check for you to leave your belongings.

  • Prior to planning a group visit, we recommend someone from your school or group visits SAI. This visit is free of charge.

  • The Neighborhood: We are located in the South Loop near Chinatown and the Motor Row district, and you can spend the rest of your day exploring what the neighborhood has to offer. Visit Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens or Ping Tom Park for a scenic picnic, or check out McCormick Place Bird Sanctuary on the Lakefront after your visit. There is a variety of dining options in the neighborhood, from casual cafes to upscale restaurants, for your groups to eat at.
