ABOUT SOUTH ASIA INSTITUTE
Founded in 2015 as an Illinois 501 (C)(3) non-profit public corporation, South Asia Institute (SAI) opened in 2019. We are the only independent South Asian American arts and cultural center in Chicago dedicated solely to preserving, promoting, and presenting South Asian arts .

South Asia Institute’s mission is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and presenting South Asian arts and humanities through curated exhibitions, performances, and innovative programming that fosters a broader humanistic cross-cultural dialogue.
Rooted in Chicago and connected globally, South Asia Institute’s vision is to amplify South Asian American emerging and established voices, exploring their complexities while remaining connected to our shared human story. We envision a world in which differences are celebrated rather than ignored, cultures are appreciated rather than misunderstood, and people are uplifted through the transformative power of the arts.
