South Asia Institute is proud to present Ali Akbar Razi Qawwali Ensemble, the youngest son of the legendary musician and scholar Ustad Munshi Raziuddin Qawwal, belonging to the original household of Qawwali - part of the illustrious Qawwal Bachay Gharana, also known as the Dilli Gharana.
Ali Akbar Razi received his early training in music from his illustrious father, and has toured extensively, first with his father and later with his celebrated brothers, Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammad Raziuddin.
Ali Akbar Razi released his debut album of Sufi Ghazal by the name of Teri Yaad and introduced new compositions into his traditional Qawwali heritage. He was born in Karachi, Pakistan where he resides presently. He has been featured in live streams and videos, performing with other musicians like Fattah Ali, Ayub Khan, and Raza Muhammad.
