The Dancer's Voice: Performance, Psychoanalysis, and the South Asian Experience

Join Rumya S. Putcha, Ph.D., professor of music and women's studies at University of Georgia, and Indrany Datta-Barua, M.D., psychiatrist with Chicago Psychiatry Associates and psychoanalytic candidate at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, as they discuss the interaction of the social context and psychological development in classical Indian dance training in the South Asian American diaspora, as they reflect on Dr. Putcha's 2023 book, "The Dancer's Voice: Performance and Womanhood in Transnational India." The book will also be available for purchase through the Seminary Co-op.
